Intellectual property rights are an essential aspect for the economic growth of companies, be they SMEs or multinationals. I find it immensely fascinating to delve into the challenges they face and fine-tune the protection of their intellectual rights with a strategic, well-thought-out approach.

Louise has been a member of the Brussels Bar since 2021. Before starting at Fencer, she did internships at two renowned law firms in the Netherlands and Belgium, where she gained experience in commercial, economic and competition law. At Fencer, she focuses on copyright and trademark law and assists clients in managing and optimising their trademark and design portfolios. She also provides advice and assistance in dispute resolution concerning trademarks, trade names, counterfeiting and unfair trade practices.

In 2020, Louise obtained her law degree from KU Leuven (KU Leuven, cum laude) with a focus on economic and international law. In doing so, she studied for a year as an Erasmus student at the University of Durham. In 2021, she obtained an LL.M in EU Competition Law and Regulation at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and in January 2024 she obtained the diploma of the Professional Training for Benelux Trademark and Design Attorney of the BBMM.

'I love that at Fencer, we guide our clients through their entire journey. There is no artificial separation between managing their IP portfolio and assisting with litigation. We follow our clients from start to finish, giving us an in-depth knowledge of their business and their intellectual rights.'
