Ilias has been a member of the Brussels Bar since 2023. Before starting his legal career, he completed internships with various players in the entertainment industry, where he gained valuable experience in different copyright cases. He focuses on copyright and trademark law and advise clients on the management and protection of their intellectual property rights. He also provides guidance in resolving disputes related to defamation, slander, and freedom of expression.
In 2022, Ilias graduated cum laude from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) with a specialisation in economic and business law. During his studies, he was able to study abroad at the Université de Nantes and the Seoul National University. He further enhanced his expertise by completing an LL.M in IP & ICT Law at the KU Leuven, where he developed a deep understanding of the legal complexities surrounding digital media, technology, and EU IP Law.
Ilias was awarded the VI.BE Thesis Award 2022 because of the relevance of his master’s thesis to the music industry. His research focused on the legal framework and practice of music sampling. In that regard, Ilias has a particular interest in different creative industries and their commercial dimensions.
